They are Talking
Are you listening?
Our animal companions constantly try to get our attention in various ways. Whether it is by their physical actions or by sending us telepathic messages we often times have a hard time trying to figure out what it is they want or need.

How do we know that animal communication is really possible? Animals are always communicating with each other and with us. Animals are able to communicate through telepathically, it is a language we have long forgotten. All telepathy means is "the communication between minds by some means other than sensory perception".

How often have you come home later than usual only to walk in the door and apologize for being late? Where did that thought come from? Basically you are responding to a thought your animal companion has communicated to you. Or how about when you are sitting watching TV and all of a sudden you have the sudden urge to get up and give your pet a treat? Where did that thought come from? Once again, it is your animal companion trying to get your attention.

In order for us to "hear" them we need to understand how telepathy works and then practice it. I am sure you already have a funny voice you give to your animal when you speak to it. I have three dogs and they each have a very distinct voice that I give them. They each know who I am talking to when I use that voice. It is my belief that part of our responsibility as a caregiver to animals is to understand and learn their language. They are expected to learn ours so why shouldn't they expect us to learn theirs? I have seen and experienced many positive changes in a household when an animal is given a "voice".

I would recommend reading several different books on animal communication by different authors. Each of us have our own way of sending and receiving messages and each animal communicator will have a different experience with the animals they come in contact with. There are no right or wrong books on the subject of animal communication, choose the ones that you are drawn to read.

Most of the techniques described in the books have to do with us clearing and centering our minds. As with any communication we receive, whether it is human or animal, we need to have a clear and quiet mind. Sit quietly with your animal companion and clear your mind and then begin with a simple question. Trust what you are receiving.

It is also good to keep a notebook handy for those times when you do receive a communication from an animal. It will help to reinforce the possibility of true communication between the two of you.

In the next issue we will look further into our own communication skills.

Who are you living with?
Angels are everywhere! Everyone has a different type of understanding of what angels are and what they do. There are news stories galore now about angels appearing when no one was looking.  We often look into the faces of angels everyday and don't recognize them. If we lift the veil we can see the love of God in the eyes that stare back at us lovingly each day.  So who are these angels?

They are our animal companions, the spiritual beings we often share our lives with. As angels our animals teach us to live in the moment. Our animal companions love us with all their body and soul; even when humans have been cruel to them they often are still loyal and loving. They forgive us even when we cannot forgive ourselves. They fill the role of earth angels. They teach us about balance by showing us how to relax, to play, and how to enjoy simple interactions with another living being. They live for today and don't worry about tomorrow, and they seldom, if ever, bother about the past. They trust us completely and love us the same way.

Who are you...con't

To me, animals are much more than just beings we share our lives with. They are often grand angelic teachers wrapped up in fur coats. They are there for our ups and downs. They try to comfort us when we are hurting. They reflect back to us the love we search for from the minute we set foot on the planet. They are part of the divine. They each have a specific job they come here to do. Some are with us for a long time and there are others who are only with us briefly yet change our lives forever.

We often look at them as our children, our relationship or our teacher. More importantly for many of us they are here to help save our lives.  How often have we heard about that special pet that was scheduled to be euthanized only to be adopted, then turning around and saving the family from certain death when their house caught on fire. Or the family pet that sits with a lost child in the woods to keep in warm until the child is found. These are examples of the many angels that move among us everyday.

More and more animals are being acknowledged for bridging that space between us and God. They help us to see the oneness of the universe if we choose.  Even the wild animals that are around us have messages from the divine source if we choose to listen and see. They too are angels that are put in our path for a reason.

So you see, you do not just live with an animal, we have the ability to watch angels at work everyday! You are not their owner for in the spiritual realm of things no being can be owned for it is its own spirit. Look again in the face of your animal and what do you see and feel? What messages are these animal angels communicating to you?

Are you ready to listen to the angel you share your home and heart with?  They bring us the love of the infinite divine everyday if we as humans would only open our hearts!

Essential Oils as an Alternative Therapy

Essential oils are the potent extracts of aromatic plants and
have been used as an aid to health issues for centuries. I have
successfully used essential oils in my practice to help aid animals
with injuries, illnesses, behavior issues and just for overall
wellness. Most animals benefit from the use of these essential
    oils.

There are certain animals however that essential oils can be quite
hazardous for and that would be cats. Essential oils containing
phenols or benzyl alcohols are highly toxic for cats and
should not be used. Phenols and benzyl alcohols are water soluble
and rapidly absorb into the cat's body, causing liver damage. Cats
do not assimilate the phenols and benzyl alcohols well, due to the    lack of an enzyme that helps to metabolize the oils, causing high
amounts of toxicity in the body and could cause serious illness
    or even death

One of my clients had a young dog who was totally out of control all
the time. It was almost as if he could not stop his body from getting
all reved-up.  The dog just would not focus. In conjunction with using
the techniques I learned from Healing Touch for Animals I began to
use essential oils to help keep him grounded and focused. It was
shortly after we began with the essential oils that he began to calm
down and "stay in his body" more. Not only did he became a much
happier dog after that but his caregivers were also very pleased
    with the results.

I have had several clients with who I have worked with their animals
on thunderstorms and loud noises. Many dogs suffer tremendous
anxiety form the dreaded thunderstorm clap or flash of lightening.
Again by incorporating the use of essential oils, Healing Touch for
Animals and some Sound therapy we were able to help lessen the
affects of trauma caused by the sights and sounds of a
    thunderstorm.

I firmly believe in the power of the essential oils and the positive
affect it can have not only on our pets by on us. In our next issue we
will talk about how animals are affected by the energy that
surrounds them and how we often times contribute to their anxiety
    with out even knowing it.

    their pets.
