My Two Cents

In watching the recent events unfold in the case against Michael Vick I was struck with two things. First was how once again something bad needed to happen to help bring this horrific "sport" into the limelight. Just as with the pet food scandal, animals once again show us that we humans are still not where we need to be as
caretakers. As far as we have come recognizing animals for their
contributions to our lives it is once again time to consider stepping up to the plate one more time for them.

A friend of mine owns a pit bull that was rescued from a dog fighting situation. I connected with the dog during the time all the hoopla was going on and asked him how he felt about the situation.  He said that it is their love for us that they do what
we ask and fight. He said he didn't like to fight but did not want to let his person down. He also mentioned he was in only two fights and he was able to escape. He wasn't a fighting dog; he said he was a lover. I can tell you he still has the physical scars to prove he fought and yet still has the ability to smile and forgive. He said
his breed was chosen to bring this 'blood sport" to the spotlight so that it may end. We have to ask ourselves, "Have we really come out of the barbaric dark ages as humans"?
Unfortunately, there was very little remorse in his statement to
the press. Actions speak louder than words. We can only hope that
Michael Vick, his buddies and all the people connected to dog fighting are brought to justice. One thing you can do that is quick and painless, go to the Humane Society of the United States and see what emails you can send about this and other issues relating to animals. Your voice does count! We have to ability and responsibility to continue to change how people view animals.

Personally I would love to see Michael Vick working to help stop
the "sport" that promotes violence by educating himself and then others on what effect this has on the creatures being used and even the community we live in.  That wish may not come true but it is up to us to continue to shed light and be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

 Horse Sense 101
I had an opportunity last week end to attend a fun horse 101 class. I have been communicating and providing horses with energy work for over two years now. I thought it was time to refresh myself on horse handling and see if I could pick up any tips. Besides what better way to spend an afternoon then with a horse! This was the day it broke a record in Maryland and was the hottest day of the year.
Mary Brandenburg, M. Ac. who taught the class is a licensed human
and animal acupuncturist. I would highly recommend her if you or your animal is in need of acupuncture. We used Mary's horse Andrew that day and he was such a sport in the hot weather. It was interesting to watch him with each individual as Mary had instructed us with several different ways of getting a horse to work with you. He was different with each one of us. When it was my turn I communicated with him that I was impressed with how patience he was with each of us. He explained he was a very good teacher just like his Mom. "Everybody's different you know". He was honored to be helping! I agreed with him on his teaching techniques. During our time working together he reminded me that it was important that each species must work together to help keep the balance of life in check. Once again I agreed and thanked him for his wisdom.

After everyone was through working with Andrew we walked him back
to his stall for a much needed break. While a few of us were standing in the barn watching Mary put Andrew back I heard a voice say, "I am not like the other horses here". I looked around and my eye caught the big beautiful chestnut colored horse. He had the softest eyes and the calmest energy to him. I asked Mary who he was and she said, "Oh, he's a lead horse. He is different from all the
other horses here at the farm as no one here really rides him".  I
smiled and conveyed to Mary that when I stepped inside the barn
that was the first thing I heard. She smiled and said he was quite the character.

It was nice to get the confirmation on my messages from each of the
horses. Expect the unexpected when working with animals. Messages
come to us all the time. It is just whether we are open to hearing
them.

Meditation Classes

Most people when they begin the exploration of animal communication
always ask how is it "really" done, how do you "hear" them? I tell
them the single most used tool for animal communication or for
living a peaceful life is one of meditation. It is one of the most
important aspects that can increase you ability to "hear" them. Intuitively we already hear them. Many of us are more attuned to our animals than our own bodies.

Meditation can help to bring you
to a whole new level if done in the proper way. This 4 week meditation class called, "Meditation with the Angelic Realms of Angels" will be held every Tuesday evening at 7 pm
starting October 2nd at Baron's K9 Country Store. After this
meditation class has concluded we will take a brief break and begin a new 6 week meditation series where you will meet your guides and teachers. You will be introduced to the next level of meditation and it's benefits.

Our animal companions are natural mediators. Come learn how they
do it and the benefits that are derived from proper meditation.

"Do I really need that shot"?

First let me say that I do recommend that folks bring their animal companions to the vet when it is needed. Whether it is for their yearly health visit or for a trip to the emergency room. Vets play a vital role in our animal's lives. Having said that, we too play an important part in their health and well being. I explain it to folks like this. Years ago when our parents went to the doctor there were not a whole lot of questions asked in regards to why
things were done a certain way or if a treatment was really needed or not. It was stated that "The Doctor said", so it must be true.

I find now our generation will question the doctor but we are still at a point with our vets where we say, "Well the vet said".  We do
not question enough, but like anything, we don't question because we don't know what to ask. We figure they have been trained in animal care and we haven't.

Food is a good example, vets, like
human doctors, have maybe one or two classes in nutrition.  They are not trained in nutrition and yet they sell food that is not of the best quality for our pets.  It is up to us to do a little
research to provide the best care for our pets.

The same goes for vaccines. Even vets are beginning to agree we are over vaccinating our pets which in turn has drastically reduced
their life span. These vaccines often cause more harm than good. Please visit the website, The Truth About Vaccines to learn more about what, if any, vaccines are good for our pets. There are instances where animals developed behavior problems, illnesses,
diseases, like cancer, and other issues that are now being linked
back to vaccines. Why would an animal that never goes anywhere but his house or apartment need to be vaccinated with bordadello (a
shot given to animals who board at kennels)?  Also if you feel you do have to vaccinate then do the shots one at a time. The combo shots can be deadly cocktails for our pets. It may be a little more inconvenient for us but space out the shots if possible.
Once again the animals are paving the way for us humans. There are
studies now being done on the connection between autism and vaccines. After the pet food recall we find our food and toys from China are substandard. Once the vet community acknowledges that the vaccines are dangerous to animals we humans will not be far behind. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

So ask questions, do your own research, read the books out there, it is up to you as a caretaker to really understand what is being
injected into your animal companion.

           NAVS
For those of you who are interested. There is a guide book put out
there by the National Anti-Vivisection Society. It is called "Personal Care for People Who Care". It is a guide to helping animals by shopping cruelty free. You can get it on Amazon or visit NAVS to pick up your copy today. You will be surprised at a few of the big companies that no longer do animal testing. Great book to have on hand when making a responsible choice in the products we use.
